Its times like this when i wish the internet was smaller. Not really small as in people and sites, but smaller as in less really amazing web apps. For a start theres here and any wordpress blog, and nowdays most social networking sites allow for a personal blog. Then theres social networking sites themselves, bebo and myspace were all the rage now to be replaced with facebook. However i still have the urge to update myspace sometimes and i dont know why.

Once again heres a random post in the scarcely posting world of mine. Recently, well very recently, in fact the day before yesterday. I went along to Delta Force Paintballing with my fiancee and her friends for a jam packed day of shootin the hell out of each other with paint. If you've never tried it before then i suggest you do.

One thing that shocked me is how little it hurt, i repeat IT DOES NOT HURT. However if your hit from close range (or in specific places ie: testicles, boobies or shoulder blade) it does....ALOT! so there you have it, it either doesnt hurt at all or hurts like hell.

Expect to play 12 games in the day, (2 at 6 different game zones) each game lasting around 10 minutes (with a 5 min break every zone). We had a very difficult team against us and lost every game, but it was still amazingly good fun :D

I strongly suggest you goto delta force paintball, so go on DO IT! DO IT!
(i am in no way involved with delta force i just thought i'd share my experience)

I'm writing this from my part time shared office, at one of my part time jobs in the same building. Not as complex as it sounds, some days i'm here doing web development (e.g today) and others i'm there casual receptionist :D

The buildings been renovated after it got flooded last year and the office i'm in is a shit tip lol, i have enough deskspace for a laptop and a cuppa tea. Cant really complain though as the web development side is much easier. I'm cut off from the rest of the office meaning i'm free to work at my own pace, unlike being downstairs and in the receptionist role which...

...i now have more respect for, as i now know it is more difficult that people think. I dont know wether its the same everywhere but my job description included: keeping appointments for people, checking publicity, room bookings and even making sure everybody knows where everyone else is. These of course being aside from the million other tasks involved. It's literally non-stop!

Anyways back to slacking....i mean web development.

Roads, Mash and erm cough

I'm back from my one nite stay in Birmingham with my beautiful girlfriend and thought i should share the experience with you internet folks (well not all of it hehe).

To be on the helpful side i'm going to recommend a few things. The first being Selfridges sweet section. If you have spare money and your in Brum then get yourself to the bullring centre, get in selfridges and buy yourself some lucky charms!
Second is my favourite: The mash house, absolutely amazing food. You get a choice of mashed potatoes, mashed potatoes and mashed potatoes. With sausages and gravy of course :D
Its a unique but great place to eat, they sure know how to make creamy mash!

Yeh i know i lacked a little on recommendations but those were worth a mention. I'm gonna cut this post short as i'm at work :s but i'll leave you with my mis-interpreted quote about birmingham:

Windows vista, is it really that bad?

I've been sceptical in the past of new operating systems especially Windows Vista. Being an avid computer user i expect a computer to run at a speed which i'm comfy with and hearing that vista was a resource hog really put me off. I don't have the best pc's, there now a bit outdated and slow compared to todays bigger machines. But i still expect a fast (or fairly fast) and flashy user experience, because i know it can be done. My prime example is Ubuntu. I ran that on my laptop and it worked like a charm even with 100% of the "bells and whistles" graphics turned on.

The other day i sat pondering as my xp machine ground to a halt once again. The installation was old and i'd tried to change that many things it was barely running. Thats when i gave in. "shall i try vista" i thought. After much thinking i upgraded...

Ahhhhh it was terrible, the upgrade i started at about 9:30ish at night was still completing at 20 past midnight. Then once in vista it was sluggish and held all the problems of the former xp machine it once was. Not satisfied but really wanting to give vista another chance out of curiosity i set on backing up my files.

After a slow and painful hour backing up a few files (yes an hour for a few files!) i booted from the vista disk, chose the hard drive, and pressed the format button *dramatic music* thats it there was no going back. Now i have a fresh install and other than minor hitches its working okay.

I'll post more as it progresses, no doubt something will go wrong. Please Microsoft learn something from Linux and Mac. Try and make something nice that doesn't need space-age hardware next time!

Summer and Music

Yes folks, summer and music goes hand in hand. This post i'm gonna go through some of my top tracks at the moment.

First of all my top track at the moment has to be: Loser by Beck.
I was browsing last.fm and got hooked on this song, i must have listened to it over and over again its just so strange i love it.

Next on the list is: Wrong Way by Sublime.
Its a story of a girl brought up to be a prostitute. Sounds summery already doesnt it? *sarcasm*. Despite its rather harsh story buried in the lyrics its kinda upbeat and cool as most ska generally is :D

Last but not least is: Last living souls by The gorillaz.
due to the fact itunes just played it and i havent heard it in such a long time, i just remembered how much i liked it.

HAPPENINGS
Righto first to start with i gotta come up with something to do when i leave work. I've been there for nearly a year now and i'm gonna miss it. I hope to stay on at level3 but who knows. I have to organise that, well semi organise it as of course everyone else will help as well.
Also got a party lined up although 1) its not mine, and 2) its not till later in the year so i guess that doesnt really class as a "happening" lol

Still not quite recovered from going round town and for the first time getting so wasted i cant remember it, to then going to Laurens party and also getting very very sloshed (and mising with the laydeeeeeeees lol).

Promises promises

My new years resolution was to have a better year than 2007.
There were dome amazing times last year and some very bad times which couldnt be helped. Thing is the worst things that happened cant happen this year for a fact, but then again neither can most of the good times.

So 2008 has started of pretty neutral, slightly depressing but mostly neutral. I just want things to pick up and be how they used to. Seems like i'm gonna have wait a while for things to turn good as its lookin pretty bleak at the moment.

I cant help wondering why all of a sudden i feel like lifes gotten boring. I've put it down to the weather and lack of money, beause dreary weather makes for dreary people. And money isnt everything but if you cant afford to get out the house and do stuff then boredom kicks you in the face.

I'm a creative person and want to spend 08 doing what i love "Creating Things!"
Being stuck inside isnt really fueling my inspiration and the internet seems to have become like some other "thing to do just to pass time".

I think i'll leave it at that i could ramble on about how depressed i feel, but i'll save that for another time. Fingers crossed there wont be another time and i'll be happy but i guess i just gotta get on with things and see how life treats me.

Christmas

Well its been okay this year. Weird tho with it being the first xmas without my dad around. Completed GuitarHeroIII and now suffering the after-xmas blues.

Once again it boils down to a friend (well a friend with history) and its hard sifting through memorys to get the good ones cos bad ones sometimes come back too. Then i get down over the good ones because i know thats in the past and i'm never gonna feel like that again.

Illness and Christmas

Today is my 4th full day of being Ill, in the sense of more serious than just flu. It got to the point yesterday where my symptoms pointed to Meningitis. Luckily though it isnt, but i have been diagnosed by a paramedic friend as having Viral Gasterenteritus, oh joy!

Putting up with illness however is what i gladly did on Sunday so that i didnt miss the Annual St John carol service. I'm glad in more ways than one as my sister recieved her lanyard so she now offically the lord luitenants cadet (doesnt sound that exciting but trust me its a good thing to get) and also we recieved a reward on behalf of dad which was nice. Also of course thats the thing every year that puts me in the mood for christmas.

So now it feels like Christmas, my flu/virus/gasterenteritus is going an things are looking brighter. (Colder tho for the next day as all our heatings being brought upto date with new radiators so were out of heat for a bit)

If somebody hurts you, cheats on you, hurts you some more etc etc Hold your anger in, then when you cant take it no more pull out your "Anger Mirror" (a handy little gadget available from all good DIY stores so ive been told) Then take your mirror and fire all that pain back into there face!

Yeh meh! the bad luck that was turning into good look.....well its bad luck again haha. I try and let me real feelings out and it all goes to pot, then i get stressed that it goes to pot and stress turns into anger. Then before i know it i'm arguing and being sarcastic again.

This time however it didnt feel so bad. After all ive been through that much shit i'm not standing for it no more. I'm sick of being messed around, and things not turning out the way they seem they are. Another thing whilst i'm ranting: Gut Feelings!, yes there the weird feelings u get when u almost know that you should make a certain decision. Well my tip is: Dont follow them! they lead to trouble!

I cant stop being nice, but from now on i'm going to be less nice for my own good. Its about time i finally thought about myself a bit.

Those are a few thing that've been on my mind lately, aside from the last even though i do do that myself.
I'm starting to feel happier again, it could be as were approaching the season to be jolly (or rather the season to be gorgeous according to boots!) but whatever season it is, it seems to be taking effect on me.

The bands had a refresh and change of lineup, and style...yeh we started it from scratch again really. And i am now the vocalist, which is kinda scary but i'm looking forward to it. Since deciding to start with a Vandals cover, they have become my new favourite band.

And if the good luck doesnt stay, well i have the vandals to cheer me up!

The tables have turned

Or so it seems. Shortly after my last post our cousin invited us to Blackpool for the week. And all i can say was, it was an absolutely amazing break away from everything. And if anything it brought us back together as a family.

Also whilst i was in Blackpool i suddently gained courage which i'd never experienced so much before. See from being very young, nearly any sort of ride scared me, and i kept telling myself "you have a weak stomach and that rides way to extreme". But since last week however i'll no go on just about anything.

Ignorance?

Yeh i would've thought better, seen as i'm dedicating this post to the ones that are IGNORING ME! yes folks i speak of my family!
Since my dad passed away recently i haven't felt more separated from my family (mum and sis) than i do now. I know its gonna be weird being the only male in the house and that i'm gonna feel ganged up on, but now its getting ridiculous.

I get blamed for staying in my room alot, which I've always done. Not for some depressing reason or anything i just like spending time in my room, its like my space where i can escape. Every time i try and speak to them i either:

1) get ignored (they've developed selective hearing)

2) get moaned at for something that i probably didn't even do

Yeh okay so it sounds like parents are anyways.....wrong!...it would be aside from the fact all i hear is "we've got to stick together now" and what would make that easier is if they didn't F**KIN IGNORE ME!

Sorry for the rant but i'm angry and upset, and at my own family which is worse that anything. I guess i've learnt to cope on my own, i'm slowly getting used to it. The amount of times i think to myself "your on your own now" and then think "nah!". Now i'm starting to think that then "yep definitely".

Haha (that was a sarcastic laugh) life sucks at the moment, i could go on....actually i will because after all a blog with no actual feelings and real life stuff in it. well its pretty pointless (unless of course its a seo/design blog or something but thats beside the point).

So here goes. A the moment i'm basically working then topping my day of by lounnging about with my "friends", who most of the time...how can i put this....ignore me! In fact i'm writing this in rage cos i'm ~~slightly~~ VERY pissed off.
Seems like you should never spend too much time with the same people, especially if theres relationships and "i think i like you"'s flying around at the same time.

Through trial and error i think i'm gonna stay seperate for a while, and see how the group reacts. Experimental seclusion.....haha made that up but i think thats what i'm gonna call it :D

Just thinking about annoying people is bringing a smile to my face. Cant say i'm proud to be sly and manipulating but hell it sure does make me feel better.

hahahah sorry gotta laugh. I'm at work taking a break from unreal as i type this. Yes i play unreal tourniment at work lol

Anyways in this blog i have decided to keep people who i'm gonna talk about annonymous as i feel like it.
So theres 2 guys involved and 2 females (A, B, X and Y). A was going out with X and then X dumped him. Now X likes me and A is blaming me for splitting them up. Then in an msn convo whilst arguing with A, he brought B into it. Now B has nothing to do with the situation at all, but dedides he's gonna gang up with A. However i didnt see the problem beacuse Y approached A saying she liked him anyways but he's not over X.

So the moral of the story is, if you know people with letters as names its probably best avoid them! lol

The Deadly Silence

The deadly silence i refer to here is that which happens in arkward circumstances, or in my case very normal and calm circumstances.
I'm reffering now to the phonecall i just took. It was an ordinary but rare phonecall from my ex Heidi. I say rare because now were just friends phonecalls only happen once every month as appose to week. Anyways not to go off track here. So she phoned me with the phrase "...Gaz, my playstations broke. The disk wont spin" so i replied "sounds like the motors gone, that means its broke!". Then the convo went on for about 3 mins as i tried to convince her that yes it could actually be broken. Anyways after that there was a short pause...and some more silence...and some background noise...and some more silence. Anyway you get my point.
Fact is that it wasnt really arkward or anything but we made it arkward by running out of stuff to converse in. It used to happen when we were together but that was mostly like affectionate shyness, or at least thats what i put it down to. This time however it was just strange, like we were waiting for some kind of extreme reaction.
Probably not the most interesting thing to jabba on about, but one i thought deserved some space in this bombsite of a blog i keep.

Found out the other day that my site had turned into a holding site, which is fair enough as i was waiting for it to be reactivated again by my host as i paid for another year. However due to unfortunate circumstances on my hosts side of things it obviously didn't get reactivated again. Instead someone from the middle east has now turned it into an adult searching page full of crap. Take a look http://www.gazneale.com (NSFW by the way as it contains links of an adult nature). Its one of those fake blogs full of adult orientated keywords.
Anyways onto the humor side. And that is the names and images the adultfriendfinder adverts show. There obviously made up names and modeled photos to get people to join, and AFF have admitted that on the bottom of some ad's.

...i should be home relaxing?

Thats kinda the situation that happened to me an hour ago. I'm posting this from work, which i'm not actually supposed to be at. We technically i am, well was yesterday anyway. See because i only do odd days here where i am i often get confused with the days i'm supposed to be in. Now my lack of planning was set right when i started using the calender and reminder in my phone.....hurray! my problem was sorted...except...well...now i forget to add the days i'm in, hence todays situation.

I start my new job/apprenticeship in less than a month. Luckily i shouldnt have the same problem, because i'm there 5 days a week. However i'll have to catch a train and wake up early to get to the station to catch the train which knowing me (which coincidently i do!) this could pose other brain problems.

This is about as exciting as my life gets, odd confusions here and there. I really gotta find stuff to do.....ooooh work yeh good thinking seen as my boss has arrived.

Google Web History! WTF?

Google Web history, is something i'd briefly heard of. And recognised as one of those "oh its invading privacy, but i'm not using it so i'm okay" kinda things.

Until this morning i logged into the google accounts section, you know the bit where you can sort out anything related to your google account such as blogger, and gmail etc.
I decided to let curiosity overcome me and clicked on Google web history to see what all the hype was about.

Oh boy did i see what the hype was.........I never signed up to it or anything and google didnt notify me whatsoever but my entire web history from the past 2 or 3 months was listed there in front of my very eyes :|

Talk about google owning the world, there keeping an eye on everyone *has a brief distressed paranoia moment*

Anyways enough of my rant, i'm going to end this blog post here before google read what i put and track me down with lawsuits and fines and stuff lol

Well yesterday i spent most of the afternoon thinking, and when i think i deep think. I come up with all sorts of strange philosophys and ideas and yeh basically i think too much...

So i got some calls from Heidi and i sensed something was wrong, relationship wise. Then i started thinking about the whole karma thing: "Theres an equal amount of good to evil and it all balances out" (okay so thats my take on karma)
Turns out my sense was correct and that she wanted a relationship chill period, as i like to refer to it. Which is fair enough if she needs to get her head around starting college and stuff, but i dunno i just cant get my head around it.

I hope that everything goes peachy and everything gets sorted out, but i guess only time will tell *fingers crossed*

Well not blogged for a while, and i have no excuse really.
I finally quit my Media Course, as it just didnt feel right. I didnt feel like that was what i was destined to do. Which has left me high and dry and now i'm basking in freedom.

I'm also in a creative void with very little work to do. I'm at a point in my life where i just sit at home on the net and listen to music. I hate it!!!!
I have been getting odd freelance projects which are keeping me going moolah wise. However i'm just gonna have to get a 9to5 to tie me over until i either launch Freelance and make a go at it, or get some form of creative job.

Also on the backburner (and i mean real far back on the back burner) is a short film, as of yet we have part of the script which i have not yet seen. But of course i will post more about that when its more than a glint of hope in my eye.

Thats all for now, i may even record a new vlog today. Or replace this with a vlog who knows.

Stumbling upon the web

So i've been busy stumbling amonst other things and managed to find these pearls of wisdom
I seriously could not stop laughing at them.

Also been working on some effects test videos both with sugar glass (which i havent yet perfected making) and also some blood and digital effects. There located here.

And me and Liam are under way developing a short film, so keep an eye out here and i'll keep posted with any updates.

Swings are bad!

Long time no blog as usual. And sadly no new videos like i said cos quite frankly i've not filmed owt decent enought to air on GazTV. Mainly just messin around skatin and stuff.

Which is partly what almost got me injured earlier...in fact it was actually the swing! I kinda fell off forward and scraped my knee. Hahah i'm such a big kid.

Previously i wandered around town with James, and bought some new DV tapesand a controller. Yes i can finally play xbox agen :D:D:D

Also did the "is that someone i know" routine in the park. You know the one where you think you know someone but u dont know if its them so you shout them and see if they turn around. Well yeah i did that and it was who i thought it was.
Twas Kane and he wanted to see me skate but ended up laughin at me as i nearly fell off (still cant skate and i dont think i ever will be able to hehe)

Anyways that was my day.

Yes i'm a rate old bugger now, twas my birthday yesterday and i got my new camcorder.

To test it out i went filming random crap with friends, and heres one of the outcomes.

(excuse the quality, i still have to learn how to optimize for youtube as the quality was fine on my pc)

I will be making more mini movies etc and experimenting alot more with video media, so keep an eye out! (and check my youtube page)

At work as i'm writing this, currently sorting someones e-shop out. Just ate an egg sarnie for my din-dins followed by 20NUGGETS! yesh MaccyD's sells boxes of 20 nuggets. *obesity here i come*. To be fair tho i didnt eat them all, my good friend Dayle helped.

Cant wait cos soon its my birthday (18th in case you didnt know), and i'm getting paid soon YESH!
Not much really to jabber on about, i'm just busy slaving away on my trusty laptop in an office thats giving me a headache....oh wait it might be the nuggets.

Brown, Purple, Blue, Black

Brown then Purple then Blue now Black
Thats whats happenin to my hair at the moment. I dyed it Electric Blue 2 days ago, and obviously expected it to turn black with a hint of blue.....but no, it had to randomly change colour everyday didnt it. Not that i'm complaining really seen as i hardly ever do anything on impulse, adn this being a first turned out quite well.

Could be that start of something :D Anyways no i'm on the roll i might just go ahead with other crazy-ass ideas. Theres no stoppin me now!

College Projects

Just set up a blog to use for college work. Some people aint keen on the idea, i'd have thought they would be seen as its using new technology on the web, ah well nemind.

So far projects are coming on alrite, need to be more organised though otherwise i'll end up somewhere up shit creek without a paddle.

Bluetooth, ah the possibilties!

I bought a bluetooth dongle the other day and soon got fed up of file transfer. After the first couple of random junk videos and pictures were sent i thought "surely theres more you can do with a bluetooth phone and dongle"

Sure enough there was. Remote control of itunes via the phone, GENIUS!

After much searching i stumbled upon the salling clicker software. And it works like a charm in fact i'm using it now, even tho i'm sat at my pc lol.

Also earlier today whilst round at Ian's i discovered that wiimotes (the wii console controllers in case you didnt know) are bluetooth devices!
And with a bit of googling found some software (glovePIE) which allows you to run scripts making good use of the wiimote as a controller. And yes all the features like motion sensing / tilt etc work.

After using the wiimote as a mouse, using the sensor bar on top of Ian's TV i decided it was a good investment to buy just a wiimote and forget about the wii, seen as i found some pretty good games in development for pc (all flash based) that use the wiimote to control.
As for my own sensor bar, i'm thinkin of dismantling some tv remotes for there IR LED's as thats all the sensor bar is.

I shall keep updated on any more bluetooth amazingness i find.

New Phone and Amazing Weather

Bought a new phone, after my last one (my beloved motorola L6) which i only had for a month or two, got attacked by the washing machine.
I bought a Sony Ericsson W810i, and what better way of kick starting its use as my personal companion. I put its 2megapixel camera to the test out in the snow.

I recently discovered a clever way of documenting my life using my trusty camera phone. I basically email images to a specific address and it posts them to a mini-blog in a way. This feature is courtesy of radar. Unfortunately you have to allow your friends to view your images. However if anybodys interested in sharing a photo blog of there day via radar then please email me and i'll add you to my radar friends (i can even send you an invite if you fancy signing up which you'll need to anyways)

Aside from the "my day in pictures" project i have been working hard on ideas for my current Interactivity2 project at college. Heres a screenshot of an idea:

Welcome to "this is what when you don't use your brain 2" Number one is here. There isn't going to be much difference, its just me being greedy and wanting two blogs.

Apart from maybe this one will be less random and more of an actual useful insight of my life and perhaps contain interesting content and findings.
